Magdalena McGuire author photo copyMagdalena McGuire is an award winning Australian writer whose short stories have been published internationally.

Magdalena was born in Poland, grew up in Darwin and now lives in Melbourne. She has a background in law and has published widely on human rights topics, including the rights of women and the rights of people with disabilities.

Magdalena is the winner of the Impress Prize for New Writers 2016 and the Mslexia Short Fiction Contest 2017, judged by Deborah Levy.

Her short stories have been published in Australia and internationally by The Big Issue, The Bristol Prize, Mslexia, Margaret River Press and elsewhere.

Her novel, Home Is Nearby, is published by Impress Books.


She is undertaking a PhD in creative writing at Monash University in Melbourne.
